Scientific Breakthroughs in Hypnosis
Lee Overholser, Ph.D.

Since the days of Mesmer there has been an intense search for the scientific basis of hypnosis. Finally we have answers based on advanced brain studies. This presentation will bring you up to date on the latest discoveries and show how to apply them in your practice. You will learn the four stages a subject goes through when entering hypnosis and where the critical faculty is located in the brain. You will be able to identify the two reactions to hypnotic inductions and how to hypnotize any client. Learn how hypnotic analgesia works and how to lead clients into the right depth of hypnosis. After this presentation you will be able to tell your clients with full confidence that hypnosis is a scientific reality and use that science for their benefit!
Lee Overholser earned his Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Michigan and his masters degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in hypnosis. He has been a practicing hypnotherapist for 25 years and his book, Ericksonian Hypnosis: A Handbook of Clinical Practice, was published by Irvington Press, the leading publisher of books on Milton Erickson.

The Phenomena of Non-Responsiveness
What to do when you do not know what to do
Matthew Brownstein, Gainesville, FL
Often times a client will appear to not be responding to traditional hypnotic protocols - and there are even times when some of the best techniques for overcoming this simply do not work either. Anyone with experience in the field of hypnotism will from time-to-time come across those clients who simply do not respond to even the most creative methods. Some people truly want help, yet their inner protective mechanisms are so elaborate that change often appears nearly impossible. Many people will even come in for hypnosis claiming that they cannot be hypnotized. This presentation we will explore a great variety of approaches to breakthrough with even the most difficult cases. This presentation includes traditional and non-traditional methods to dissolve non-responsiveness and multiple ways to increase the probabilities of client success. Remember, "There are no poor clients, only poorly trained hypnotherapists."
Matthew Brownstein, CHt is director of the Florida Institute of Hypnotherapy in Gainesville, Florida. He is a graduate of Tim Simmermans Hypnotherapy Academy of America and has run a successful full-time hypnotherapy practice for the past ten years. Matthew is the founder and director of Anahat Meditation Center and Silent Light Publishers, Inc. He is the author of four books and over 60 audio CDs in the fields of health, healing and spirituality.

Have you ever experienced, while working with a client, an un-easy feeling when it's time for inducing hypnosis because you worry that the slow relaxing and/or visualizing method you use just won't be effective for this particular client?
You're not alone! When you learn these "secrets", you'll never again have to rely on certain "scripts and techniques" for inducing hypnosis. We are tapping in to the fundamentals of human behavior. This is easily accomplished and you'll be comfortable doing it every time when you fully understand what really induces the trance and how anyone can easily & instantly enter into this natural state of mind in the twinkling of an eye.

Treat Children as Children: How to help children in hypnotherapy
Steve Stork
Children are not miniature adults. They have unique ways of communicating and interacting with the world, and it varies throughout childhood. They interpret the world naively via a limited accumulation of vocabulary and concrete logic. This leads them to relate to you in ways that seemingly make no sense. Your adult responsibility is to gently probe toward a more meaningful understanding. Learn about children's unique traits and how to respond to them appropriately. Learn how to help adult clients when they abreact to childhood experiences.
Steve Stork holds an accredited Doctorate in Education from Auburn University and is an early childhood specialist. He has spent 30 years teaching children and training teachers to teach children. He also coached women's competitive gymnastics for 20 of those years. Dr. Stork brings to hypnotherapy extensive experience and understanding of how children communicate and interact with adults. As editor of Teaching Elementary Physical Education, he has written extensively on the unique nature of children.

Understanding Illness and Stress Connection
Roxanne Louise
Illness results when the body is being asked to deal with more than it can handle. Stress can come from unhappy things or happy ones (a new home, job or relationship), or totally emotionally neutral things (air, water, electro-magnetic fields). It can come from the thoughts, emotions or energy fields of other people, and having too much or too little of something (noise, people, work, rest, play). A stressor is anything that demands energy of you. There needs to be sufficient reserves to handle it all or breakdown occurs. Where the body breaks down is neither random nor chosen just from biological weaknesses. Your fears, unhealed issues, mental/emotional and life-style habits of both you and your ancestors, plus family acceptance or non-acceptance of certain conditions, all influence where the body takes the hit. How you handle stress, where your body stores stress, and how you nurture yourself or not, influence the outcome. Here is what I learned from working with clients, observing others, reading extensively on the mind-body relationship, and from almost dying myself.

No Parking: Getting Rid of the Past
Paul G. Durbin, Ph.D., Lafayette, LA
You can see them in many places: in front of theaters, bus stops, fire hydrants, hotels, hospitals and loading zones. One of the most persistent warnings in traffic or in life is the danger of parking in the wrong place. Yet people go on parking in places where they should not. In traffic, the results may mean a ticket or an accident. In life, we pay the penalty in arrested development, stunted personality, narrowed vision, and in limited lives. The "No Parking" zones discussed are: "No Parking" by your failure. "No Parking" by our fears. "No Parking" by your anger and resentment. "No Parking" by your past religious experience. "No Parking" by our past. We will examine some of the "No Parking" zones in life, discuss them, release them and move on. The techniques usedare relaxation, visualization and imagery.

HOW TO GET MEDICAL REFERRALS
Melissa Roth
60% of my clients come from medical referrals and 40% from word-of-mouth. I do no advertising and am booked up to 6 weeks in advance. This is something every hypnotherapist can do. The American Medical Assn. says that 58% of MD's are interested in referring to complimentary providers but can not because they don't know whom to refer patients to or how. Dentists and chiropractors are eager to refer as well but don't know you exist. Learn step-by-step how to locate and connect with these valuable referral sources. You will have a steady stream of interesting clients and your professionalism and income will be enhanced. All it costs you is your brochure and unbooked client time. Hypnotherapists in every area of the US have used this system to build full time practices without advertising. You can too!
